More Angus McDonnell and Christina MacNab connections

As mentioned in my Angus McDonnell and Christina MacNab post, the table below shows, Angus was descended from Alexander, the Keppoch chief who died at Culloden, through both his father and mother:

The table below shows that Christina was also descended from Alexander of Culloden through her mother.

What I have just found out from my cousin Hamish’s Maclarens, Birtwistles and Many Other Families research, is that both Angus and Christina were also both descended from Rev. Patrick MacDonald of Kilmore. This is mentioned in Alexander Mackenzie’s History of the Macdonalds and Lords of the Isles; with genealogies of the principal families of the name:

Alexander married Jessie, daughter of Robert Stewart of Appin, by his second wife, a daughter of Robert Campbell of Lochnell, with issue —

8. Charlotte, who, between 1775 and 1776, married  Alexander Macdonald of Garvabeg, son of the Rev.  Patrick Macdonald, her sister’s husband, by his first wife, a  daughter of Mackintosh of Balnespick, with issue — Jessie,  who married John MacNab, a cadet of the family of Innisewen, with issue — a daughter, Christina, who on the 17th of July, 1835, married Angus, grandson of Angus Ban of Inch, with issue.

I assuming that the two Rev. Patrick Macdonald’s are the same person then he first married a Macintosh of Balnespick (see below, left hand column). Their son married was Alexander Macdonald, of Garvabeg. He married Charlotte Macdonell who was the youngest daughter of Alexander of Culloden. She was also Christina’s grandmother.

Patrick then married Barbara MacDonell of Keppoch the eldest daughter of Alexander of Culloden (see below, right hand column). She is also Angus’s grandmother (see above, right hand column).

The Rev. Patrick MacDonald of Kilmore is Angus’s great grandfather and Christina’s grandfather.

It’s not a big surprise that Angus was considered by some in the clan to have been the Keppoch Chief after the death of his cousin Chichester, the 19th/21st Chief.
