Just watched a historical documentary about the battle of Culloden in 1746 on the BBC iPlayer, ‘one of the most mishandled and brutal battles ever fought in Britain’, by Peter Watkins. There’s also a good documentary about the making of the documentary here. Great pity that there’s not more TV like this and can’t help agreeing with Neil Postman discourse on Amusing ourselves to death. Anyway, film was pretty fair as far I could make out and certainly a departure from more romantic accounts. Not sure my Keppoch ancestors come off too well though.
