Hay Carr on the market for 4 million quid

Haven’t been posting of late but interesting to find out that my uncle and aunt’s former home is on sale with Savills for around 4 million quid. They bought in the 50s for around 5,000!

  1. Interesting. I have just found out that my gg x 4’s nephew’s wife, Katherine Lawson, died in this house on 26/5/1926. She was married to Lt Col Gregory Haines (1853-1945) the nephew of Field Marshall Sir Frederick Paul Haines (1819-1909).Katherine, b in Fife, Scotland in @1864, left a large amount of money (in those days) to her widowed husband and her younger brother David Adamson Lawson- so she must have been wealthy

If you know of any further details of the Lawsons, or why whe was at this house, I would be grateful

    1. Simon, not sure if my cousins know much about the history of Hay Carr but I’ll ask them next time I see them.
